Love - Part 4
Love is a gift.
Can you truly comprehend that God knew you and loved you before the foundation of the world? We were on His mind before He even put heaven and earth in place. If we could understand that kind of love, we would want to be filled to the brim with it.
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
We hear this verse over and over, but until you understand the gift of love that can only come from our Heavenly Father, it doesn't really sink in. And until it does, and until you realize that you have the capacity for the same love in yourself, there's so much untapped potential for love.
Think about all of the things you can't be without love.
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Without the gift of God's love in our own hearts, we can exhibit none of these loving characteristics. But when we're blessed with that overflowing love, we have the ability to be patient and kind. We have the strength to resist envy and pride.
God's love controls our mind - leading us to think on the good things and not the evil. It rejoices and encourages, believes and endures. But without our intimate relationship with the Lord, that love doesn't grow in us or get shared with others.
Love is a most precious gift that God uses through us to bless everyone we cross paths with. Now it's our time to use it wisely.
