A Weekend of Stillness
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. Psalm 23:1-2
How long do you think you could sit still?
For some people, this might not be so difficult. They can think, observe, wait and be calm just sitting.
I sure can't. Doing nothing brings only boredom and depression. I'm a doer not a sitter, and I know now that's what makes me happy and productive.
However, that's not what Scripture tells us about our heart condition.
Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Psalm 46:10
We can't hear or focus when we're moving at a hundred miles an hour. The Lord is quietly calling us to be still and be overwhelmed with nothing but Him.
Make this a weekend of stillness. Wipe your schedule and your scoreboard clean - take whatever time is necessary to remember how to be still and listen to the Word of the Lord.
