Apple Of The Eye
We had a taste of spring this weekend ... and it tasted good!
Now I'm ready for the trees to start budding and the grass to turn that beautiful shade of Iowa green. Yes, I know it's only March, but it's about time to shed the heavy coats of winter and rejoice in the newness of spring.
In Proverbs 7:2, we are told Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.
How closely are you holding to His Word today? Can you say that it's so special and important that it's the apple of your eye? We commonly use that phrase to tell someone how much we love them - isn't that appropriate here as well?
This connects so closely to Psalm 17:8: Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings.
We are precious in His sight (remember the song you learned in Sunday School?), so much so that we're the apple of His eye. He could choose anyone in the world to love, and He chose you. He holds you dear and in a special place every moment of every day.
If we are keeping God's Word in the foremost of our thoughts - as the apple of our eye - we can trust in His promise that we will be kept as the apple of His eye. The power of this promise should make us feel protected from anything that comes our way.
That safe, protected, special place is the best place we can be in both times of trouble and in times of utter peace. We can rest assured that no matter what we're going through, God will keep His children safe. And in the very good times, we can rejoice in knowing that we hold a special place in His heart, the apple of His eye.
