A Weekend Of Comparison

If you spend any time at all with other sisters in Christ, you begin to compare yourself to them.

Wow, she reads 10 chapters of Scripture every day! I want to start doing that, too!

She writes devotions every day and gives them out to her church women. I wish I could do that.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if I was asked to speak at a ladies meeting like she has been?

She's so wonderful with her husband and children. If only I knew what her secret was, I'd be just like her.

Just like her...

God didn't call you to be just like another woman, no matter how spiritual or wonderful she might seem. He calls you to be like Christ.

For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness by whose stripes ye were healed. For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls. 1 Peter 2:21-25

Make this a weekend of comparison - but not with the people around you. Compare your life to the life Christ left as an example to you. He is the only mirror and benchmark we need to live holy, glorifying lives.

Follow in His steps, not anyone else's.
