A Weekend Of Celebrating Freedom
This weekend we celebrate the freedoms that so many soldiers have battled and died for. From the days of the founding fathers, freedom has been sought after, sacrificed for and fought for on all fronts.
Independence was the great moment in American history, one that students still learn about in school, and one that many people still join the military to defend. It is one of the traits that sets our nation apart from all others - our desire to be free and independent.
But the greatest freedom we have ever celebrated is the gift of God through Jesus Christ.
For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. What fruit had ye then intros things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:10-23
Make this a weekend of celebrating your freedoms - freedom from sin, freedom from condemnation, free from spending eternity separated from God. These are the freedoms that will stand the test of time and can never be taken away.
These freedoms bring us closer to God, making us dependent upon Him for all that we are and all that we receive. But being a servant to the Lord brings about the greatest freedom - free from the wages of sin and death because of the cleansing blood of Christ.
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. John 8:36
