A Weekend Of God's Love

Did you know that there are 281 verses in the Bible with the word "love" in them?

Some of them talk about romantic love between a husband and wife. Others are about treating a neighbor with respect. And many describe that happy feeling that's a little more than "like."

The most frequent, though, talk about what God feels for us. Then, in return, we can spread that love far and wide.

As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. John 15:9-12

Make this a weekend of love. With Valentine's Day tomorrow, this may seem like a no-brainer, but let's love with a different kind of love. Instead of lovey-dovey love that comes with a stuffed bear and some candy, let's love with the same love we have been loved with. (Get it?)

Abiding in the love of God brings about a new understanding of how important and powerful love can be. With His perfect love in our hearts, we overflow with His joy - something we'll never get enough of. And then we're able to spread both love and joy everywhere we go because He commanded that we love as He has loved.

What a joy it is to love.
