A Weekend Of Gold, Silver And Precious Stones
At the top of the hill by the barn, our burn pile has been waiting patiently through the winter months. It is now puled high with last year's limbs and leaves that we didn't get burnt before the snow started to fly.
If we were to set it ablaze right now, the fire would devour the dry sticks and leaves with little effort at all. They're so brittle and light-weight that you wouldn't even have time to roast marshmallows - and what's the fun in that?
Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 1 Corinthians 3:12-13
Make this a weekend of choosing to build on the foundation of Jesus Christ in your heart. You have to make the conscious decision to give Him gold, silver and precious stones through your attitude and motivation. This is easier said than done unless you have honoring the Lord as the foremost thought in your mind and on your heart.
Anything not done for the Lord, whether done for someone else or for selfish reasons, will simply burn up as quickly as our brush pile will. Why bother doing anything if you're not doing it for the glory of God? I pray that the choices you make this weekend will be for Him, and that your pile of gold, silver and jewels will be beautiful.
