A Weekend Of Numbering Days
It's only one day until Mother's Day.
It's only a few more days until the book sale.
It's only another week until the big garage sale.
It's only three weeks until we'll have company.
It's only a month and a half until Father's Day.
It's only a little less than three months until my birthday.
But who's counting?
We pack our schedules so tightly and stay so busy that we're constantly thinking about what's coming up next. Days turn into weeks, weeks into months, and the next thing you know it will be winter again.
Sorry.
So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. Psalm 90:12
Make this a weekend of numbering days. Not counting down to a holiday or figuring out how much longer until school starts, but truly considering how few days we have on earth and how we will use them. It shouldn't be a sad, depressing consideration, but one that brings joy and hope and motivation to live in the center of God's perfect will.
While we may have the days marked on the calendar, we are not promised tomorrow or the next day. All we have is this moment to love the Lord with all our hearts, love people as deeply as we possibly can and treasure the many blessings we are given. What a wonderful way to spend these two days.
