A Weekend Of Letting Your Light Shine
There is very little I love more in the summer than sitting on the deck as the sun sets. It's suddenly 10 degrees cooler, the colors are vibrant and then everything goes dark.
Except for one thing: the fireflies.
Not being familiar with too many parts of the country, I often wonder if we have more fireflies than anywhere else. Just within view from our deck, there are thousands of them between the house and the ponds every night.
They take turns lighting up the darkness for a moment, and then fade back down. With so many of them, there is always a firefly light on somewhere, as they illuminate the night air in their nightly activity.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16
Make this a weekend of letting your light shine. The light of Christ, which is in you right this moment, needs to illuminate this dark world every single day - but this weekend is a good place to start. Don't hide it under a bushel, keeping it locked away inside you, but set it up on the candlestick of your daily life for all to see.
God wants to use you this weekend to share that light with everyone around you. Believers and nonbelievers alike will be drawn to the Lord as they're drawn to His light beaming from you. Your good works, done in the name of Christ Himself, will glorify God and be a beacon to all who seek Him.
