Simple Chocolate-Dipped Graham Cracker Sandwiches
Some of my clearest and most favorite memories of Christmas growing up can be found in the kitchen. We had so many holiday traditions, recipes that only came out in December and, of course, the sweet treats! No Christmas is complete without cutting out sugar cookies, making pies and frosting cakes.
And when all was said and done, there was always frosting left over. Always. And this is a very good thing because then I was given a box of graham crackers and a knife to make little sandwiches with that leftover frosting. Then I was able to make the holidays a little bit longer as I snacked on those graham cracker and frosting sandwiches for days!
Fast forward to today and I’m still making those graham cracker and frosting sandwiches. Only now that I’m an adult, I can kick things up a notch and make them a little more decadent.
When I make them now, I dip the finished sandwich in melted chocolate and douse them with sprinkles. There are many kinds of dipping chocolate out there, and they come in a variety of flavors, so it’s simple to make your creation just the way you want. I’m a pretty traditional girl, so milk chocolate always hits the spot.
I also willingly admit that I have a stash of sprinkles for every occasion in my baking pantry. Right there with my dozens of baking pans, you’ll find containers of sprinkles for Valentine’s Day, spring, the 4th of July, fall and, you guessed it, Christmas! The best time to stock up is the day after the holiday, so be on the lookout in a couple of weeks to grab some on discount.
What wild and wonderful graham cracker and frosting dessert sandwiches would you make?
