Slow Cooker Chili For Your Busy Holiday Days

Are you busy? Like, finishing the end of November and getting ready for a crazy December busy? I’m going to help in the yummiest of ways, and I’m only going to use three words: slow cooker chili.

Here’s what I need you to do…go to the grocery store with the shopping list that follows and buy two or three of everything. Then make one batch this week and save the rest for another one of those days you know will be super busy. All you have to do is brown the meat and throw everything in the slow cooker for the day.

You’ll have something warm and yummy to eat on a cold December day. You’ll have several meals planned and ready. And you’ll expend very little effort in a short amount of time. Bake up a big batch of cornbread to go with it, and you’ll be in winter weather heaven. Pass this simple recipe on to others so they can join in - that’s all the thanks I need!

Ingredients:
2lbs ground beef
Chili powder to taste
2 10-oz cans diced tomatoes with green chilis
1 15.5-oz dark red kidney beans, drained
1 15.5-oz light red kidney beans, drained
1 15.5-oz can chili beans
1 16-oz jar of your favorite salsa
3 8-oz cans tomato sauce
1 cup beef broth

1. Brown the ground beef in a large cast iron skillet with chili powder and any other of your favorite spices.

2. Combine all of the remaining ingredients in a large slow cooker, and stir in the seasoned ground beef.

3. Set the slow cooker to low, and leave it be until you’re ready to eat, the longer the better. Serve with cornbread.
