Apple Cider Donut Cake
Do you love apple cider? Do you love donuts? Do you love cake? If you answered affirmatively do any or all of these questions, you're going to want to head to the kitchen with this recipe immediately.
Not only is this beautiful cake soft in the middle and a little crunchy on the outside like your favorite donut, it's sugar crusted and overflowing with apple flavor.
Instead of asking what you can bring to the next holiday party, just say, "I'll bring the cake." Or "I take the cake." Whichever fits.
Ingredients:
1 box yellow cake mix
1 cup apple cider
1/2 cup cinnamon apple sauce
3 eggs
2 Tbsp cinnamon
1/8 cup brown sugar
1 Tbsp vanilla
1/4 cup sugar
2 Tbsp cinnamon
2 Tbsp butter, melted
1 cup powdered sugar
A couple of splashes of milk, to desired consistency
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Liberally spray a Bundt pan with nonstick spray.
2. In a large bowl, combine cake mix, apple cider, apple sauce and eggs to make cake batter. Stir in cinnamon, brown sugar and vanilla. Pour into Bundt pan.
3. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes, until a toothpick in the middle comes out clean. Place on wire rack to cool.
4. When you're ready to serve the cake, brush it with the melted butter and press cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat the top and sides.
5. I made a glaze of powdered sugar and milk, but instead of pouring it over and cake, soaking in and melting all the sugar, I gave each person a tiny bowl of glaze to add themselves.
