Prayer: The Most Important Ongoing Conversation Of Your Day

Do you run to your friends with good things, bad things, every little thing? Are you texting constantly, talking whenever possible, giving each other updates on all those things? It's a never-ending, long-standing talk that will go on endlessly if we let it, right?

We all have those friends, and they're the kind we definitely need in our lives. But the Bible is very clear about who our strongest, most lasting conversations in life should be with.

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Matthew 7:7
Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. Matthew 18:19
Pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5:17
I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 1:4
I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy. Philippians 1:3-4
Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. James 5:13-14

And this doesn't even scratch the surface. Jesus withdrew Himself to pray because He needed that quiet time with His Father. The one thing the disciples asked Jesus to teach them was how to pray. Paul repeatedly both told people he was praying for them, and asked them to keep him in their prayers. Prayer is the foundation of everything we believe.

If we're living and breathing, walking and talking, we are called to be in constant conversation with the Lord.
If we're struggling, we lay it at His feet in prayer.
If we're rejoicing, we turn our prayers into glorious praise.
If we're worried, we pray for calm hearts and peaceful souls.
If we're worn out, we share that with God in prayer and He promises His rest.

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

I pray that today will be the day that we devote ourselves wholly to prayer - to conversation with our heavenly Father. May we each go beyond a quick "good morning" and grace over our meals. Let's stand up, take action and hand our lives over to God in prayer. Let's be the prayer warriors He's called us to be.
