Sunday Surrender

  1. Every single time our youth group reads a Bible verse with the word "all" in it, we ask them the same question...

  2. What does ALL mean?

  3. Normally we don't let them define the word with the word, but this is the exception. ALL means ALL. Every one. All of it. Every last unth. All.

  4. But does all really mean all in our own hearts and in our own lives? We'll give it our all until it gets difficult, or we have to sacrifice something special, or there's something better or more important to be doing. Then all doesn't really mean all at all.

  5. But if we're sold out, completely surrendered to Christ for everything in our lives, then all means absolutely everything.

  6. Can you put that definition surrendering all into the well-known hymn, and does the Holy Spirit speak to your heart?

  7. All to Jesus I surrender,
    All to Him I freely give;
    I will ever love and trust Him,
    In His presence daily live.
    • Refrain:
      I surrender all,
      I surrender all;
      All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
      I surrender all.
  8. All to Jesus I surrender,
    Humbly at His feet I bow;
    Worldly pleasures all forsaken,
    Take me, Jesus, take me now.
  9. All to Jesus I surrender,
    Make me, Savior, wholly Thine;
    Let me feel the Holy Spirit,
    Truly know that Thou art mine.
  10. All to Jesus I surrender,
    Lord, I give myself to Thee;
    Fill me with Thy love and power,
    Let Thy blessing fall on me.
  11. All to Jesus I surrender,
    Now I feel the sacred flame;
    Oh, the joy of full salvation!
    Glory, glory, to His Name!

Are you surrendering all or at all? Does your definition of all match Jesus' definition? I pray that your Sunday will be a day of examining your heart to find out where your all is found.
