I'm Not Lucky, I'm Blessed!

I don't believe in luck, and I don't believe in coincidence. Too much has happened in my life that has clearly been the hand of God. I'm sure if you look back at the situations and circumstances of your own life, you'll see God moving and working in everything you've been through, too.

So it may sound cliche, but we're blessed by God, not left up to whatever luck might come along. Whatever happens today, good or bad that you receive, is a blessing from God.

The best definition of a blessing I've ever seen is that we receive God's favor, grace, and presence in our lives, leading us to His peace and well-being. We may not be blessed with a million dollars or fancy house and car, but what God does give us is His favor and grace - which are priceless - and His presence - which is perpetual. Beyond that, what more do we need?

Here are some of my favorite Scripture about the blessings of God. I pray they'll bless you today while everyone else is scrambling to hold on to their luck.

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. Psalm 1:1-3

For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield. Psalm 5:12

The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace. Psalm 29:11

Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him? Matthew 7:9-11

Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Matthew 5:4-11
